# Manage devices

If you need to deactivate hypershot on a device you no longer have access to —
an old laptop you sold, a machine that died, a reinstall that counted twice —
you don't need to email support. The **manage page** handles it yourself, in
about a minute.

You can find it at [hypernuclear.com/license/manage](https://hypernuclear.com/license/manage).

## Signing in

The manage page asks for two things:

1. **The email address** you used when purchasing
2. **Your license key** (from your purchase confirmation email — the
   `XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX` code)

Both must match the license on file. If either is wrong you'll get the same
generic "invalid email or license key" message — that's intentional, so nobody
can probe which emails have licenses.

## Deactivating a device

Once signed in, you'll see every device currently using your license, with the
name hypershot reported when it activated:

1. Find the device you want to remove
2. Click **Deactivate** next to it
3. The slot frees up immediately — activate on your new machine whenever
   you're ready

Your session on the manage page expires after 30 minutes, after which you just
sign in again.

## Things to know

- **The license key is the credential.** Anyone holding your key can manage
your devices — treat your purchase email like a password and keep the key to
  yourself.
- **Deactivating doesn't refund or cancel anything** — it only frees a device
  slot.
- **Every license** — v1.x or Lifetime — is for one person on up to **three
personal devices** (see the [Terms of Service](/legal/terms)).
- If all your devices are legitimately in use and you need more slots,

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | What to do |
|---------|------------|
| "Invalid email or license key" | Check both fields against your purchase confirmation email; keys are case-insensitive but must be complete |
| Device you expected isn't listed | The device may have activated under a different license key — sign in with that key instead |
| Too many failed attempts | Sign-in is rate-limited (10 tries per 15 minutes per network); wait and retry |
