# Glass Loupe

A round glass lens that magnifies whatever is under it, annotations included.

**Shortcut:** G

## How to use

1. Select the Glass Loupe (press G, or pick it from the **FX** button in the toolbar)
2. Click and drag over what you want to magnify, or click once to drop a lens there
3. Move it, resize it, and adjust it from the options above the toolbar

The lens is always round: dragging and resizing keep its box square.

## Options

| Option | Values | Description |
|--------|--------|-------------|
| **Zoom** | 110–500% | Magnification at the center of the lens (150% by default) |
| **Distortion** | 0–100 | Bulges the whole lens like a fisheye (0 by default) |
| **Edge Bend** | 0–100 | How hard the glass bends what's under it at its edge (10 by default) |
| **Shadow** | On / Off | Drop shadow behind the lens |

### Advanced

Click **Advanced** at the end of the options to fine-tune the glass:

| Option | Values | Description |
|--------|--------|-------------|
| **Edge Width** | 0–100 | How far the edge bend reaches toward the center (30) |
| **Chromatic** | 0–100 | Color fringing toward the edge (40) |
| **Specular** | 0–100 | Strength of the light's highlight (50) |
| **Gloss** | 0–100 | Highlight sharpness: low is broad and soft, high is small and crisp (60) |
| **Reflection** | 0–100 | How much of the room the glass reflects (30) |
| **Light** | 0–360° | Direction the light comes from (top left by default) |

## How it layers

- Loupes always sit above every other annotation, so they magnify arrows, text and everything else under them
- A loupe doesn't magnify another loupe
- Loupes can be moved and resized, but not rotated

## Tips

- **Small text** — Drop a lens on the detail you want people to read
- **Clean zoom** — Set Distortion and Edge Bend to 0 for a flat magnifier
- **Big glass** — Turn up Edge Bend and Distortion for a lens that looks like it's sitting on the screen
