Artboard

The artboard is the canvas area surrounding your screenshot. Hypershot lets you customize its appearance with backgrounds, window chrome, shadows, and rounded corners.

By default, the artboard auto-fits to your captured content. You can:

  • Resize by dragging the outer handles on the canvas
  • Lock the aspect ratio to maintain proportions while resizing
  • Enter exact dimensions using the size input in the tool options panel (when the artboard tool is active)
  • Maximum size is capped at 8192px per side

Add a background behind your screenshot to give it context and polish. The background extends to the artboard bounds with configurable padding.

Type Description
Solid Single flat color background
Gradient Two-color gradient with noise texture support
Image Custom image imported as background
None Transparent/no background (default)
  1. Select the artboard tool (or click on the artboard area)
  2. In the tool options panel, find Background
  3. Choose a fill type and configure its settings:
    • Solid: Pick a color
    • Gradient: Set start/end colors, angle, and optionally enable noise texture
    • Image: Import an image file as the background

Background padding controls the space between your screenshot and the artboard edges. Default padding is 75px on all sides. Adjust by dragging the inner handles on the canvas.

Add a realistic window title bar to your screenshot for a polished presentation look.

  • macOS — Native macOS window chrome with traffic light buttons
  • Windows — Windows-style title bar

Toggle the style on or off via the Chrome option in the artboard tool options. Click the active style again to remove chrome entirely.

Add a drop shadow to your artboard for depth and separation from the page background.

Property Default Description
Opacity 35% Shadow transparency (0–100%)
Angle 90° Direction of the shadow offset
Blur 90px Softness/spread of the shadow
Distance 15px How far the shadow extends
Color Black Shadow color

Round the corners of your artboard for a softer, modern look.

  • Inner corner radius — Rounds the screenshot/capture corners
  • Background corner radius — Rounds the outer background corners independently

By default, inner and outer radii are independent. Hold Shift while dragging either set of handles to maintain a linked 1.4× ratio between them.

To reset all artboard customizations back to defaults, use the Reset Artboard option from the editor menu. This clears backgrounds, chrome, shadow, corner radius, and padding while preserving your annotations.
