Pen

Draw freehand strokes with pressure-sensitive variable width.

Shortcut: P

  1. Select the Pen tool (press P or click the pen icon in the toolbar)
  2. Click and drag on the canvas to draw
  3. Release to finish the stroke

The pen responds to drawing speed — faster strokes produce thinner lines, slower strokes produce thicker lines. If you have a tablet with pressure sensitivity, pen pressure also affects stroke width.

Option Range Description
Color Any color Stroke color
Size 0.5–40px Base stroke width
Pressure 0–100 How much speed/pressure affects width
  • 0 — Uniform width regardless of speed
  • 50 — Moderate variation
  • 100 — Maximum variation; fast strokes become very thin

When the Pen tool is active, a circular cursor preview shows the current brush size. The system cursor is hidden so you can see exactly where you’re drawing.

After drawing, you can:

  • Select the stroke to move or resize it
  • Change color or size from the tool options
  • Delete by selecting and pressing Delete/Backspace
  • Light, quick strokes create thin expressive lines
  • Slow, deliberate strokes create bold thick lines
  • Set Pressure to 0 for uniform-width freehand lines
  • Works great for handwritten annotations and sketches
