Hypercapture Files

hypershot saves captures as .hypercapture files — self-contained bundles that include all annotation data, images, and metadata.

hypershot registers .hypercapture files with the system so they appear with thumbnails in your file manager:

  • macOS Finder — Quick Look thumbnails show a preview of the capture directly in icon and column views.
  • Windows Explorer — Thumbnails render in all view modes (Extra Large Icons through Details).

No extra setup is needed — the thumbnail extensions are installed automatically with hypershot.

Double-click any .hypercapture file to open it in hypershot with all annotations fully editable.

.hypercapture files are standard zip archives under the hood. You can share them directly — recipients with hypershot installed can open and edit them.
